English Program

The first pillar

The English & Life Skill Program has two pillars. On this page we describe pillar 1: English education. There are three levels of teaching and preparatory classes. A total of 150 young people and young adults participate in the program every year. Each group receives two hours of intensive language lessons per day.

Cambridge method

We use the Cambridge method for language lessons. Much attention is also paid to discussions and presentations on diverse subjects, such as philosophy, citizenship and politics. All in English of course.

Exams

The youngsters of level II and III have their exams every year in October. They can participate in the exam training sessions in advance. The pass rates for the KET and PET exams are currently above 80%. Level III students who don't pass their PET exam do automatically obtain the certificate for the KET exam, because they score high enough to do so.

Future perspective

The demand for good English speaking young people is high in retail, ICT, business, tourism and schools. With the certificates in hand, the chance of a good job is much bigger.

Pre College Program

Twenty-five of the successful level II and III students are allowed to participate in the Pre College Program at the PDO High School each year. These young adults receive full-time lessons for a year in all kinds of subjects that are useful during an international exchange. They are also assisted in applying for a scholarship to study abroad. The English & Life Skill Program (Bridging) is a good breeding ground.
